Academic Dean and Professor of the History of Christianity, Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary, Philippines.
Dr Cunningham has taught at Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary since 1983. He served as Academic Dean from 1989 to 2009, as President from 2008 to 2013, and again as Academic Dean since 2013. He has held short-term teaching assignments at Northwest Nazarene University (1988) and Nazarene Theological Seminary (1992-93), and Asia Graduate School of Theology. He has taught classes in Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, Fiji and Myanmar. He was the Japan Holiness Association Lecturer in 2011. Dr Cunningham’s research interests include the Wesleyan Tradition and the history of the Church of the Nazarene. His book Holiness Abroad: Nazarene Missions in Asia (2003) won the Smith-Wynkoop Award from the Wesleyan Theological Society in 2004. He was awarded “Alumnus of the Year” by Eastern Nazarene College in 2011. He is currently writing a book on the history of Philippine Protestantism.
