Students interested in pursuing a research degree (the PhD or the MPhil) in the areas of study covered by the MWRC normally register through one of the partner institutions.

The University of Manchester has a world-wide reputation for research (and a particularly strong Religions and Theology subject area): Both Nazarene Theological College and Cliff College offer research degrees validated by the University of Manchester: Nazarene Theological Seminary and Asbury Theological Seminary have articulation arrangements, allowing research students to apply to study through these validated colleges.

Together, the MWRC institutions possess formidable research strength, and can offer a wide range of specialist supervision to research students.

An 'Orientation to Research in Manchester' guide is available to introduce research in Manchester to PhD students and scholars making their first visit to Manchester.
