‘The End is the Beginning: Spiritual Formation as Narrative and the Hero’s Journey in John of Ruusbroec’ (NTC)

Robert studied music at Berklee College of Music and West Texas A&M University (BA), and theology at Regent College and Asbury Theological Seminary (MDiv). Robert and his family live in El Paso, Texas, where Robert is the Senior Pastor at Western Hills United Methodist Church. Robert is the author of Rock God: How God Shakes, Rattles and Rolls Our Easy-Listening Lives (SalvationLife Books, 2014).

Robert is working under the supervision of Drs David Bundy and Geordan Hammond. His research examines the narrative nature of spiritual formation in the work of the 14th century mystic, John of Ruusbroec, comparing Ruusbroec’s description of the path of divine union with that of the hero’s journey in myth, folktale, and literature.
