Visiting Fellows 2014

Three visiting fellows have been appointed for summer 2014.

Dr Keith Beebe from Whitworth University, Washington will be researching George Whitefield and John Wesley in Scotland; Dr Rebecca Laird from Point Loma Nazarene University will be working on George Whitefield, Mary Bosanquet Fletcher’s children’s catechism, and a new Wesleyan Spiritual Formation textbook; and Dr Andrew Winckles from Siena Heights University, Michigan will be researching early Methodist women's writing as literature.

MWRC Annual Lecture and Celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the MWRC

Professor David Bebbington (University of Stirling) will give the 2013 MWRC Annual Lecture titled: 'Secession and Revival: The Louth Free Methodist Church in the 1850s'. APPOINTMENT OF SUMMER 2013 VISITING FELLOWS

The MWRC would like to congratulate Dr Jon Kulaga, Provost at Asbury University, on his appointment as an MWRC Visiting Research Fellow along with the summer 2013 Visiting Fellows from Point Loma Nazarene University: Dr Carol Blessing (working on Mary Tooth) and Prof Charlene Pate (working on the Sunday School movement). Dr Kulaga will be working on a project titled: 'John Wesley’s Leadership Style: In Search of a Paradigm'.

The MWRC is pleased to announce its co-sponsorship of 'George Whitefield at 300', an international tercentenary conference at Pembroke College, Oxford from 25-27 June 2014. See the conference website with a call for papers and full details about the conference.

Methodist Studies Seminar Call for Papers

The Manchester-based seminar of the Oxford-Manchester Methodist Studies Seminars will take place on Saturday 1 December 2012 on the campus of Nazarene Theological College. As 2012 is the 350th anniversary of the birth of Samuel Wesley, senior and the 'Great Ejection', paper proposals are particularly welcome on Samuel Wesley or the relationship between Methodism and Nonconformity, though proposals on other topics will be considered. Submissions for 20-30 minute papers are invited. An approximately 250 word abstract of the paper should be sent by 15 September 2012. Papers delivered at the seminars can be considered for publication in Wesley and Methodist Studies
